Burrington Estates is my core business venture, together with my co-founder Paul Scantlebury we have built a multi disciplined property development business. We started Burrington Estates in 2013 by “bringing Mayfair to Exeter” with the conversion of the 18th century Dean Clarke House Hospital. We now have a turnover in excess of £100m, employ 80 people and manage investment assets of circa £60m. Part of our commercial division is Thrive Hubs, providing workspaces for individuals and smaller businesses in Plymouth and Exeter. Thrive Capital is closely associated with Thrive Hubs, able to provide investment advice and connect businesses to help their growth. I remain keen to invest in and mentor promising businesses, whether they work from one of our Thrive Hubs or not.
A key philosophy of mine is to build a connected community amongst all the businesses that I’m involved with. This community is growing strongly with circa 70 business tenants in the Burrington Estates and Thrive buildings combined with circa 10 investment portfolio companies. I like to encourage all the businesses to interact for their mutual benefit – “Together we are stronger!”
